Since 2009 this community, previously Collegiate Starleague (CSL) then NACE Starleague and now Playfly College Esports, has been a destination for organized college competition for esports clubs and gaming groups of all kinds. Historically, participation in our Open competitions was offered without user fees, but as publicly mentioned in February 2024, that is not sustainable. To continue providing a best-in-class competitive experience, we need to implement a paid membership model. The initial price points that we rolled out for Open Premier and Open Plus were too high, so we are correcting course to make the Open Division more accessible to our communities.
Starting today, you can sign up for Open Premier for $20 or Open Plus for $10. Both memberships give you access to all eleven (11) titles, meaning you can play in 1 or more of your favorite games this season for one low price. For those who have already registered and paid for Open, you’ll be refunded the difference between the original and now updated prices.
Additionally, the Open Premier competition includes $66,400 in scholarship prizing and the ability to qualify for an in-person LAN in the Spring (more details to share on that soon). All participants are also eligible to claim this Fall's merch drop that includes a “College Esports” t-shirt and “Fall 2024” commemorative flag (see below). We will continue to listen and evolve in order to best serve our amazing, collegiate esports community.
